LISA CURATOLO

LISA CURATOLO is an up and coming contemporary dancer and choreographer.  She received a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Dance Performance from Ball State University in 2015. She began her early training in Detroit, Michigan attending Suzette’s Masters of Dance and Adagio Dance Company.  She has trained under the tutelage of  Kristina Boroja, Christie Zimmerman, Audra Sokol, Vladimir Stadnik, Michael Worcel, Shauna Zambelli, Brandon Koepsell, Suzette Maniaci, Sonya Dunn, and many more.  She has attended several summer intensives including Rapture Dance Intensive and Great Lakes Dance Festival.  While at Great Lakes Dance Festival she was selected to perform a piece choreographed by Meg Paul entitled Far Beyond the Endless.
During her time at Ball State University she has worked with several notable choreographers including Stephanie Martinez, Kristopher Estes-Brown, Xan Burley, Alex Springer, and Sidra Bell.  She also had the opportunity to perform the role of Clara in The Nutcracker at Ball State University under the direction of Audra Sokol.  During this production she received the “Best Solo” award for her performance during Clara’s Variation.  While at Ball State she also had the opportunity to work with the Jazz Band in an immersive learning project.  Under the direction of Michael Worcel, she was able to study many forms of swing dancing including Balboa, Lindy Hop, and East Coast Swing. In 2013, she attended American College Dance Festival located at Oakland University in Rochester Hills, MI.  She was able to re-attend the festival in 2015 and was selected to perform the piece “Ritz” choreographed by Alexa Dietz.  She also performed a piece titled “The Twenty-Seven” choreographed by Shelby Richardson at the Rad Festival in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She has worked with several dance studios in the midwest area and has choreographed many award winning dances. She is excited to continue to grow as both a teacher and choreographer at Expressenz Dance Center.
