JENNIFER HINSHAW

A native of Virginia, Jennifer House Hinshaw has been immersed in dance since the age of three. Childhood ballet, jazz, tap, and baton classes cultivated a love for dance that became Jennifer’s life work. She has spent the last 16 years diligently working to pass on her passion for dance.

In May of 2003, Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science in Dance Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. While at UNCG, she had the privilege of studying under amazing choreographers and educators such as B.J. Sullivan, Sue Stinson, Jan Van Dyke, Gerri Houlighan, and Jill Green. During her time at school she developed a deep love for modern and contemporary dance.

Jennifer was the Founder and Director of the Wake Forest-Rolesville High School Dance Department in Wake Forest, North Carolina and the Avon High School Dance Department in Avon, Indiana. In 2008, she became the first state-certified Dance Educator in Indiana. During her time with these programs, Jennifer successfully developed Dance programs that fostered the physical, social and emotional development of her students. Her curriculum exposed students to multiple genres of dance, quality technical training, choreographic and historical studies, community outreach and a variety of performances opportunities.

More than her own accomplishments, Jennifer is most proud of her students, some of whom have attended highly acclaimed BFA programs and have gone on to become accomplished professionals. Jennifer believes that dance is an incredible art form and one that deserves to be shared. She is thrilled to begin working with the World Renowned Expressenz Dance Center!

When she is not dancing, Jennifer resides in Danville, Indiana with her husband Richard and their three children, McKinley, Coleman and Annalise.
