EXPECTATIONS OF BALLET EXPRESSENZ MEMBERS

This is a pre-professional ballet company for dancers ages 5-18 years old. The purpose of the company is to develop the technical and artistic skills required for dancers preparing for college or a career in the performing arts.

 

Commitment Level:

The Ballet Expressenz members are required to participate from August through our end of the year showcase, which is typically in June. These dancers are expected to attend all classes and rehearsals each week, and must make up any classes they are absence for. Ballet Expressenz members are required to perform in our annual performance of the holiday classic, “The Nutcracker,” as well as our end of the year showcase in June.  Select dancers will also be invited to compete at the ballet competition, Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP).

 

Opportunity:

Expressenz is so fortunate to have some of the best ballet faculty in the country.  Our Ballet teachers come from around the world and have been members of The Kirov Ballet, Boston Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, and many more.  Upper level ballet dancers will also take class with a live accompanist playing the piano.  For our annual performance of “The Nutcracker” Expressenz hires male dancers from Butler University, giving more dancers the opportunity to partner.  Ballet Expressenz dancers can also sign up for ballet privates with one of our many incredible staff members.  This gives the dancer one on one time to work on areas of dance they feel need improvement.  Dancers can also audition to compete a variation at Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), which if accepted will be selected by their instructor.
