JONAS + KATHLEEN

Jonas Kazlauskas and Kathleen Ilo are current and two time United States Professional 10-Dance Champions. They are World Professional 10-Dance Bronze Medalists and World Professional Classic Showdance Bronze Medalists. 

 

Jonas is originally from Lithuania. He began dancing at age 7, eventually moving to England at the age of 14 to further pursue his career in Ballroom & Latin. From the ages of 18 to 21, he was the number 1 couple in England and represented them in all major competitions around the world. At the age of 22, he decided to move to America in search of a new partner and a fresh start in the Professional field. A few months after his initial move to Boston, Jonas was contacted by Kathleen and they arranged a tryout. After a successful tryout, Jonas decided to move to Indiana to dance with Kathleen. Jonas has a degree in Performing Arts from Bournemouth University. 

 

Kathleen comes from a dancing background. Her parents, as well as her grandparents, are big names in the Ballroom industry.  She is originally from Estonia. Her parents decided to move their career to america when Kathleen was just 3. They originally migrated to Baltimore, Maryland, but after several years made the move to Indiana to open up their own studio. They are now the owners of Indianapolis Dance Lessons based at Starlite Ballroom, which is where Kathleen and Jonas do most of their teaching. Kathleen has a degree in Biology from Indiana University. 

 

Jonas and Kathleen have competed and trained around the globe with the most prestigious names in the ballroom industry. They are a 10-dance couple which means they specialize in all 5 Ballroom dances (Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep) as well as all 5 Latin dances (Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive). 

They have been dancing together for 4 years now and continue to work to push themselves and their students to greater heights.
